Inspiration is everything: which is our favourite source? Cinema

Observe, open your mind, study and be creative. Inspiration is a key element when you have artistic work like ours. Being wedding videographers has led us to be constantly on the lookout for new sources of inspiration to make wedding films that are always new and unique, just like every story we tell.

Our favourite source of inspiration: Cinema

There are people in this world who are able to have great communicative power and to overwhelm each one of us. These people succeed in their mission through the works of art they create, thanks to the world of cinema. We are talking about filmmakers and directors.

Pasolini said that “Cinema is the explosion of his love for reality“. A reality that throughout the history of cinema, different currents have decided to represent it in unique ways, to transmit new messages. Currents like Italian Neorealism or the French Nouvelle Vague have tried to best express the concept of reality without changing it in any way.The aim, as Jean-Luc Godard says, is to capture “the splendour of reality“. Then, cinema wanted to express a more personal vision of reality. Sometimes, in fact, it is filtered and altered through different styles of photography, colour palettes or even spanning totally different genres, even where reality is represented in fantastic and imaginary contexts (science fiction, horror, adventure, etc.).
This is exactly the reason why we love this world: cinema has no limits of expression.

Details that make all the difference

From any genre, from any type of film, we can extrapolate something that fuels our growth. Compositions, photography, colors, hidden messages transmitted from a given scene…

For example in Psycho, a great classic of Alfred, in the scene where Marion prepares her suitcase to run away with the money she stole, you can see in the background the open bathroom door that shows us the shower jet. Clear and evident clue of what will happen to the protagonist during the film (look at it if you haven’t seen it!).
The cinema takes us out of what is our reality for a while to enter another dimension, from which we can grasp teachings, tricks, notions. It also allows us to train our “eyes”.
Observing, having an image imprinted in the mind, helps us to draw practical notions to use in the contexts in which we work: knowing how to catch a certain light, being able to make the most of it, understanding how to compose an image, what kind of machine movement to achieve.
All this wealth is given to us by this art that we will try to know and celebrate more and more, an art that deserves to be deepened.
Being wedding videographers is really important for us: it is exciting to have the chance to tell a story, and above all to tell it through such a unique and special language.
